കൊവിഡ് 19 പടരുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തില് മരുന്ന് കയറ്റുമതിക്ക് ഇന്ത്യ ഏര്പ്പെടുത്തിയ നിരോധനം ഭാഗികമായി നീക്കി. കൊറോണ രോഗികള്ക്ക് നല്കുന്ന ഹൈഡ്രോക്സി ക്ലോറോക്വിന് ഉള്പ്പെടെ 24 മരുന്നുകളുടെ കയറ്റുമതി നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലാണ് ഇളവ് വരുത്തിയത്. അമേരിക്ക ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട അത്രയും ഹൈഡ്രോക്സി ക്ലോറോക്വിന് മരുന്ന് ലഭ്യമാക്കും.കൊവിഡ് 19 മോശമായി ബാധിച്ച മറ്റ് രാജ്യങ്ങളിലേക്ക് ഇതിനൊപ്പം പാരസെറ്റമോള് അടക്കമുള്ളവയും കയറ്റുമതി ചെയ്യും.
ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക് എത്രമാത്രം മരുന്ന് ആവശ്യമുണ്ടെന്ന് കണക്കാക്കി അതിനനുസൃതമായാണ് മറ്റ് രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ ആവശ്യം പരിഗണിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് കേന്ദ്രം വാര്ത്താക്കുറിപ്പില് വ്യക്തമാക്കി. കൊവിഡ് രോഗ ബാധിതരുടെ ചികിത്സയ്ക്കാവശ്യമായ മരുന്നുകളുടെയും മെഡിക്കല് ഉപകരണങ്ങളുടെയും കയറ്റുമതി മാര്ച്ച് 25 നാണ് ഇന്ത്യ നിര്ത്തിവെച്ചത്. രാജ്യത്ത് കോറോണ കൂടുതല് പേരിലേക്ക് വ്യാപിക്കുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിലായിരുന്നു ഇത്. എന്നാല് ഇന്ത്യ കയറ്റുമതി നിര്ത്തിയതില് അമേരിക്ക കടുത്ത എതിര്പ്പുയര്ത്തി രംഗത്തെത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഹൈഡ്രോക്സി ക്ലോറോക്വിന്റെ കയറ്റുമതി പുനരാരംഭിച്ചില്ലെങ്കില് ഇന്ത്യ തിരിച്ചടി നേരിടേണ്ടി വരുമെന്നായിരുന്നു അമേരിക്കന് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഡൊണാള്ഡ് ട്രംപിന്റെ പരാമര്ശം.
